A subject that we get asked about a lot is planning permission for small turbines. Our next section is a brief summary of what you do and do not require planning permission for.

Temporary Turbines

Temporary wind turbines shouldn't require planning permission. However, we do recommend that you contact your local planning authority before erecting your turbine.

Permanent Turbines

If you are planning to erect your turbine on a permanent basis then you will need to apply to your local planning authority to gain permission. However, due to the recent introduction of the National Planning Policy Statement 22 (PPS22) your local authority should "promote and encourage" the development of renewable energy resources.
