Television Standby Saver

Leaving products such as TVs, DVD players and home theatres on standby not only uses 70% of the power their life span is shortened by up to 15%. Most importantly, leaving electrical appliances on standby contributes to global warming as CO2 emissions enter the atmosphere and cause damage to the environment.

The Power Safer PS 1.1 automatically disconnects the TV set from the mains a few seconds after standby mode has been activated. When your TV is in standby mode the Power Safer reduces the current to almost zero (equivalent of only 0.3 Watts). This allows just enough to detect the infra-red signal from your remote control that turns it back on. In addition the Powersafer provides improved safety with its integrated surge absorber. To reactivate the TV set, simply use the remote control provided. A great way to start making energy savings around your home with the simple push of a button.

How It Works Step By Step

Remove Power Safer from packaging

Remove power safer from packaging and read through instructions.

Plug in

1) Plug the TV in to the Power Safer

2) Plug the Power Saver in to the wall socket

3) Turn the wall socket on - The light on the Power Saver will turn green

Turn TV on

Use your remote control to turn your TV on. The green light on the PowerSafer will turn off after 15 seconds.

Wait

Wait for 15 seconds. During this time the PowerSafer will have a green light on and your TV standby light will be red

All off

After 15 seconds both units are off - with only 0.3 Watts being used to monitor for the signal to switch back on.

Pack away

Because the Powersafer doesn't need to be in line of sight of the remote control it can be tucked behind the television keeping everything tidy.
The energy saving power safer automatically controls and stops the standby function of electrical equipment therefore putting a stop to unnecessary electricity consumption. Easy to install, Doesn't need line of sight for the remote Turn tv off and after 10secs or so it full turns off like if the plug was out.

To turn tv on point remote at tv press power as normal it powers it on from fully off.
install and forget very good!

I've just purchased my third Power Safer PS1 from Wind Trap and find the item excellent for turning off items which you cannot easily access to turn off at the plug, for example wall mounted TV's. Simply turn the item off (put it on standby) using the TV remote and the power safer turns the power supply off after 20 or 30 seconds. To turn the item on again press the TV remote a couple of times and it comes back to life. The only comment I'd make is that it can sometimes be a little slow to power the item on again (20 to 30 seconds) and for some reason the TV remote has to be pressed two or three times to waken it up. But in a nutshell the item does as it says.

An excellent product - I now have 4 of them - which saves needing to switch off TVs by automatically disconnecting the power 15secs after going to standby. Could be improved with a sensitivity control since it does not work at all with low power devices.

Excellent buy. Found the instructions a bit confusing so just used my common sense. I watch a lot of TV in my bedroom and nearly always fall asleep whilst watching it. Now all I need to do is hit my remote control button and can rest assured that the TV will be powered down.
