Intelliplug Saves Standby Power

Eliminating standby in our homes sounds a lot easier than it actually is. The little red light on your computer monitor, scanner and printer are needlessly costing you money every hour so it makes sense to eliminate this inefficient use of energy in your home or office. Leaving electrical equipment on standby can also reduce the lifespan by an average of 15% and create a needless fire risk.

It was with all of this in mind that resulted in the world’s first patented intelligent plug which is designed to work automatically and boasts a lifespan of at least 15 years! Not only does the stand by saving Intelli plug make achieving eliminating standby in your home or office easy, it has been tested to British standards and deemed RoHS compliant and recommended by the Energy Saving Trust. The Intelliplug's green credentials, integribility and reliability have also been endorsed by independently qualified technicians.

How It Works Step By Step

Reduce Standby Wastage

The Intelliplug reduces energy wastage, when you switch off your computer this handy device cuts the power to your peripheral devices too. Then when you switch your computer back on it switches your peripherals on.

Intelliplug arrives

You'll find your Intelliplug packaged securely, including full instructions to help you get started with saving energy in the home or office.

Choose workstation to install Intelliplug

Choose an appropriate workstation, ideally this would be a workstation which accommodates at least 2 or more peripherals.

Please note: The IntelliPlug is suitable for PCs & MACs BUT NOT Laptops.

Plug in desktop computer

Plug the desktop computer into the permanently live MASTER SOCKET.

Connect peripherals

Connect peripherals into remaining sockets. Extension sockets can be used. Remember to shut down your PC before removing any plugs from their sockets, as not to lose or damage any data.

Plug intelliplug into wall socket

Finally, plug the Intelliplug into the wall socket. Peripherals will receive power 5 seconds after desktop computer is activated.

Switch on

Switch on at the wall socket.

Now when you turn your computer off the rest of your devices will automatically follow. Then when you switch your computer back on your peripheral devices automatically follow.

- Auto Calibration – The amount of electricity consumed by your desktop computer in active and standby mode is continuously measured by the Intelliplug. The unique energy saving technology of the Intelliplug allows the device to learn your computers energy pattern in order for your peripherals to be switched on/off when appropriate.
- Zero-crossing detection - When the power supply to the peripherals is at an optimum level this is determined by the Intelliplug so as to cause the minimum amount of stress to all components. Switching at this point means that less electrical noise is emitted in the form of interference to other electrical products such as the television and radio.
- Quality Surge Protection - dissipates surges of up to 610 joules of energy/a peak current of 21,500 amps. Also includes thermal fuse in case of a catastrophic spike.
- Minimum standby power of 0.4 watts.
- Saves an average of 35 watts per hour depending on the number of connected peripherals. This product can pay for itself in less than a year of use.
- Designed for use with trailing adaptors.
- Reaction Time: approximately 5 seconds
- Total Maximum Power: 13 amps
- Low energy red LED light indicates when the peripheral sockets are on.

An excellent device, allowing simple over-riding control of all of a PCs peripherals. A sensible saver of electrical energy. The only drawback I have experienced is a failure of the device when our 20A ring main supply fully was tested, and I failed to either unplug it or switch off at the wall - the test produced a spike which rendered the Intelliplug useless (but my own fault, as I had been warned to switch off every appliance completely).

At night after the lights were turned off, our living room used to glow like the flight deck of an airliner. Not only was the computer on standby, so was everything else: scanner, printer, monitor, sub woofer and USB hub. Access to the socket switch is behind a heavy bookcase and out of easy reach. Now the Intelliplug is in that socket, so when the computer is shut down it switches itself off and everything else off. Good for the planet, good for our electricity bill.
