The History of WindTrap
2005
In 2005, childhood friends Matt and David decided that it was about time they stopped talking about running their own eco-business and actually did it!.... a couple of months later and Wind Trap was born.

Outside the Wind Trap Barn/Office/Warehouse
Wind Trap was set-up with £100, a single-computer and an office space in one of David's parents' farm buildings in Lorton (in the Lake District). Ther idea was to combine David's knowledge of wind turbines (he works for his family business installing large wind turbines) with Matt's internet knowledge to provide customers with the ability to install their own DIY wind turbine kit.
2006
In 2006, Wind Trap were invited to participate in Newsnight's Ethical man programme. Matt and David packed up the van and headed down to London. Whilst filming was going on Matt and David noticed the Electrisave Energy Monitor that was also part of the eco-feature.

During Filming for NewsNight
Upon their return to Cumbria they decided to look in to stocking the Electrisave. Sales went throught the roof and they made the decision to expand their energy saving product range.
2007
In 2007 Wind Trap were nominated for the Arena/02 Entrepreneurs of the Year. They made the final list and attended a star studded event with the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Will Young, Alexander McQueen, Terry Gilliam and The League of Gentlemen and walked away with Runners-up spot.

This seemed to generate quite a bit of interest in the local papers as well as getting Wind Trap some air-time on BBC Radio Newcastle.
2008
It's all go in 2008. The warehouse has been moved over to Morpeth and there's a brand new website that has been 6 months in the making. Plus there's been one or two additions to the Wind Trap Team

David and Matt with their lads Harry (10 weeks) and Elliot (19 months).
The Future
Matt and David plan to continue to grow and expand Wind Trap by introducing new product lines at great prices. Working towards their original goal of helping provide every home owner in the UK the option of generating their own electricity, they now plan to offer each UK home the best, most affordable energy saving solutions with their expanding energy saving product range.
